Zoku Owarimonogatari (Anime) (2025)

In “Zoku Owarimonogatari”, Koyomi Araragi has finally graduated from high school. However, as soon as the graduation ceremony is over, he feels a certain emptiness – so is this the end of all the bizarre experiences? Hardly, because as Koyomi ponders his future life in front of the mirror in his bathroom, he is promptly sucked into it. When he regains consciousness, some things seem to have changed. For example, his older sister Karen is suddenly much smaller than usual, and Yotsugi, who is usually so expressionless, seems almost human. What’s more, in search of answers, the irritated Koyomi goes to the Kitashirahebi shrine, but already on the way, he gets lost again and again because everything seems so different …

And so does Mayoi: she now looks like an adult, has been chosen as the shrine’s new god and explains to Koyomi that he must have gone to the mirror world and that the key to returning is for Shinobu to open a portal for him from his world. Koyomi and Yotsugi set out together to find a way to communicate with the other world, but quickly discover that this world is full of strange dangers on the one hand, but is also in danger itself on the other …

In »Zoku Owarimonogatari« hat Koyomi Araragi nun endlich seinen Oberschulabschluss geschafft, doch kaum ist die Abschlussfeier überstanden, verspürt er eine gewisse Leere – ist nun also Schluss mit all den bizarren Erlebnissen? Wohl kaum, denn als Koyomi vorm Spiegel seines Badezimmers über sein weiteres Leben sinniert, wird er prompt von diesem aufgesaugt. Als er wieder zu sich kommt, scheinen sich einige Dinge geändert zu haben. So ist zum Beispiel seine ältere Schwester Karen plötzlich deutlich kleiner als sonst und die für gewöhnlich so ausdruckslose Yotsugi wirkt fast schon menschlich. Mehr noch: Auf der Suche nach Antworten begibt sich der irritierte Koyomi zum Kitashirahebi-Schrein, doch bereits auf dem Weg verirrt er sich ein ums andere Mal, denn alles wirkt so anders …

Das gilt auch für Mayoi: Diese sieht nun aus wie eine Erwachsene, wurde als neuer Gott des Schreins auserkoren und erklärt Koyomi, dass es ihn wohl in die Spiegelwelt verschlagen hat und der Schlüssel zur Rückkehr darin liegt, dass ihm Shinobu von seiner Welt aus ein Portal öffnet. Koyomi und Yotsugi machen sich gemeinsam auf die Suche nach einer Möglichkeit, mit der anderen Welt zu kommunizieren, müssen aber schnell feststellen, dass diese Welt einerseits voller seltsamer Gefahren steckt, andererseits aber auch selbst in Gefahr ist …
